IWC Schaffhausen has sponsored Laureus Sport for Good Foundation since 2005, in 2006 SIHH, IWC particularly launched Portuguese Chrono-Automatic Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, for the support, some sales proceeds of these watches would be donated to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.

IWC Portuguese represents the great spirit of sailing, the Portuguese not only discover Madeira, Azores and Cape Verde Islands, even to find the highest quality watches in Switzerland. Then in about 1936, two Portuguese businessmen Rodrigues and Teixeira attracted to Schaffhausen and ordered one chronograph with first class quality in all aspects.

Back to the 1936’s, the IWC customized by Rodrigues and Teixeira was based on the elements of being easy to read and accuracy. Until today, the pursuit of perfection for IWC has never been changed, it can be fully exposed by the case classic design, easy reading Arabic numerals dial design and the willow pointers, so the automatic movement of Portuguese Chronograph has led the elegant watches with the chronograph performance.

Laureus Sport for Good Foundation sponsored public social sports program and aid projects for many countries, and contest has become an integral part. Ago Paez Vilaro, an art teacher from Uruguay opened a painting workshop for children, it was one of the projects of “Development of Sports Programs” organized by the foundation. The chairman of Gonzalo Rodriguez Foundation, Mr.Nani Rodriguez was more by children’s enthusiasm for painting: “Painting project melds sports with arts in the most sensational way, peace and the creation process are very worthy of encouraging and promoting.”

The jury of the Painting Competition are including Edwin Moses (the president of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation), Guy Sanan (Lawrence Chairman) and Georges Kern (IWC Chairman), They had to review all the entries around the world and selected the winners. As a large number of participants and high level, the jury decided after very careful consideration. At last, a 15-years-old youth, Stanley Njengere stood out from the crowd, his work used colour to express the strong desire for health, life and a clean environment. Stanley is the football player of “Mathare Youth Sports Association”, once a week, the young players in the team clean up trash near their home, they get league scores for the team after completion.
